Dear Student:

 

You have been invited to participate in the Real Life 101 Program.  In order to be eligible for the program, you must adhere to the following requirements.  It is imperative that you read through all the materials attached and adhere to the requirements.  All items must be submitted on the Real Life website, www.reallife101.org

 

1.     Write a 1000 word essay on the topic of “Improving the Image of Black Males in America”.  The essay should include their plan to improve the image and maintain this status.  This essay will be submitted online via the Real Life 101 website; www.reallife101.org.  The applicants name and high school attending must appear on the essay.

 

2.     Complete the application listing current contact information, including an email address, for the student and their parent or guardian.   

 

3.     Upload a head shot photograph onto the Real Life 101 website.  See the attached description for acceptable photos.

 

4.     Read and accept the Student Pledge & Rules of Engagement.  Forms are available online.    

 

5.     The ten (10) applicants must attend a mandatory meeting at the school with Mr. Sid E. Taylor, Founder & Chairman, or Real Life designee.  Applicants are required to wear a shirt and tie for this meeting. NO EXCEPTIONS.  No baggy or sagging pants allowed.

 

6. The selected students will be required to attend a Scholarship Awards Ceremony that will take place in May / June of 2012. The exact date, location and time will be provided at a later date.  Proper attire (shirt and tie) will be mandatory to attend the awards gala in June.

    7.  Watch the Real Life video located in the upper right hand corner of our homepage.

There is a deadline for turning in your application and essay, which is February 29, 2011.
